Veterinary Medicine Assistant Program
The Veterinary Medicine Assistant Program (VMAP) prepares students for a diverse range of careers in the animal care and agricultural industries. Upon completion of this two-year program students will receive a certification in Veterinary Assistantship upon High school graduation.
As juniors, students explore the intricacies of animal anatomy, physiology, behavior, care, and enrichment. Our classroom serves as a dynamic learning environment, housing a captivating menagerie of domestic and exotic animals. This provides invaluable hands-on experience in animal handling, behavior, care, and industry-standard practices.
In their senior year, students delve into the specifics of large animal and farm industry topics. They gain a comprehensive understanding of cattle, swine, goat, sheep, and poultry industries, encompassing digestion, reproduction, nutrition, breeds, vaccines, diseases, housing, and care. To enhance their practical skills, students have the unique opportunity to participate in 120 hours of hands-on clinical externship with our veterinary partners to prepare students for their professional journey.
